Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent, Chance The Rapper & More React To Pop Smoke's Death

Fans and artists are mourning the death of Pop Smoke.

The 20-year-old rapper, born Bashar Jackson, was shot and killed early Wednesday morning (February 19) in what authorities have deemed a home invasion robbery.

According to TMZ, two men wearing masks and hoodies broke into the Brooklyn native's Los Angeles rental home around 4:30 a.m. and opened fire — fatally wounding Smoke — before fleeing the scene. The up-and-coming artist was pronounced dead upon arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood.

The incident reportedly took place at a property owned by The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Teddi Mellencamp and Edwin Arroyave. Teddi addressed the tragic incident on Instagram, writing, "Early this am we were informed by a 3rd party leasing and management company overseeing a rental home we own in Los Angeles that a shooting had taken place at the property. Foremost, we would like to extend our prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss of life."

Several artists, including Nicki Minaj, who did a remix of Smoke's breakout hit "Welcome to the Party" last year, Chance the Rapper, and 50 Cent, to name a few, have paid tribute to Smoke on social media since news of his passing. See their heartfelt posts below.

Pop Smoke recently visited Angie Martinez right after he dropped the sequel to his debut project Meet The Woo 2. The Brooklyn native's new project features some of the biggest names in hip hop such as Quavo, and other New York City Natives A Boogie wit Da Boogie, Lil Tjay and Fivio Foreign.
