Josie Harris's cause of death remains under investigation.
According to TMZ, law enforcement officials found no evidence of drugs or suicide at the scene. As previously reported, Josie was found dead at her home in Valencia, California last Monday (March 9). Law enforcement sources told TMZ, officials were called to the home around 9:30 PM and when they arrived, they found Josie unresponsive in her car.
One of her kids reportedly noticed that Josie was unresponsive in the vehicle and made the call to 911. While lifesaving measures were reportedly taken, including an attempt at CPR, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials previously told TMZ that it did not appear to be any foul play involved and Josie's death was being treated as a death investigation as opposed to a homicide probe.
Most recently, sources told the outlet there was no suicide note and it does not appear that Josie intentionally took her own life. The insider added, authorities did NOT find any drugs or evidence of drug use when they looked through Josie's car.
The case is now in the hands of the medical examiner who will evaluate the results from the autopsy, along with toxicology, to determine Josie's cause of death.
On Friday (March 13), Josie's ex, Floyd Mayweather, shared several photos of himself with Josie through the years on Instagram, captioning each picture with a heartfelt phrase about what she meant to him. "My Angel," the 43-year-old retired boxer captioned the first photo that showed the two embracing one another. In the several tributes that followed, he went on to call Josie: "My Heart," "My Love," "My Rock," "My Family," "My Sweetheart," "My Friend," "My Sunshine," "My Kiss," and "My Flowers."
Josie reportedly dated Floyd from 1995 to 2010. They share three children — sons Koraun, 20, and Zion, 18, and daughter Jirah, 15.
In 2010, the famed boxer was convicted of attacking Josie during a domestic violence incident and later served 2 months behind bars. Josie claimed she was abused on six different occasions. However, the criminal case cited a September 2010 incident when she claimed Floyd "entered her Vegas home while she slept, pulled her hair and then attacked her in front of their children," TMZ reported. She claimed their oldest son, Koraun, "snuck out of the home and alerted a security guard to call the police."
Floyd though has long denied the violent allegations, telling Katie Couric in an interview years later, "Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did. So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone."
In response to Floyd's denial, she sued him for more than $20 MILLION for defamation. The case is still ongoing.
