Keri Hilson Is Under Fire For Her Thoughts On Donald Trump's Twitter Ban

Folks aren’t feeling Keri Hilson's take on the censorship of Donald Trump's social media accounts.

On Friday (January 8), the R&B singer took to her own Instagram to speak out on Twitter’s permanent ban of Trump's account, deeming the move a "dangerous" one that violates freedom of speech. "This may be funny, but it is a little dangerous too. Take Trump out of it for a moment," Hilson told her followers. "A democracy must include freedom of speech. Imagine other leaders or popular figures not being able to voice their opinion if it opposes the majority of world leaders
Our freedom of speech being taken from us. Slowly but surely (censorship)."

Hilson went on to point out that the ban could comparable to a ban on civilians. "If the leader of the 'Free world' can be removed. Imagine that same right of civilians. Imagine believing every time you read ‘False information detected’ and propaganda [sic]. Deceptive reports," she continued. "And flat out lies being the only thing we see." As you know, Twitter stepped up to the plate on Friday and announced that it had permanently banned Trump from its service "due to the risk of further incitement of violence" in reference to the storm on the Capitol on Wednesday. Facebook and Instagram followed suit by temporarily banning his accounts until January 20 when President-elect Joe Biden will be sworn in.
