Bringing Awareness to Black Breastfeeding Week In Michigan

This week is, "Black Breastfeeding Week" in the state of Michigan. As commonly known, breastfeeding can have a significant positive impact on the health of both mothers and babies, however, a lack of promotional and educational efforts about the benefits of breastfeeding has resulted in lower breastfeeding rates in many communities. August is National Black Breastfeeding Month, and, last year, Governor Whitmer declared August 25-31 as Black Breastfeeding Week. I sat down and spoke with Shannon Wilson, Director of Medicaid Outreach and Quality at Priority Health about the benefits of breast feeding. We also talked about the state of the world in 2020 and how it's effecting america especially African Americans.
