There's not a lot of things that most Bay Area natives wouldn't think to do, but swimming inside of Lake Merritt is probably on that short list. And, the reason why taking a dip in the lake would be a bad idea is because we've collectively seen Lake Merritt swallow up vans, diapers, drug paraphernalia, human bodies and so much more throughout the years!
