Marty (ID# 1775777) is a 10 month old, male reddish tan & white Australian Cattle Dog mix weighing 47 pounds. Marty has all the energy of a puppy and his herding breed. He’s a bit unsure of that “leash” but his volunteer BFF’s are helping learn that once it is on it’s a good thing because that means he gets to come out for play training and with people. Marty loves affection and is quick to offer kisses in return. Like all puppies he’d benefit from basic training classes. He's smart and starting to catch on to "sit" cues. Training classes work on basic skills all family companions need like walking on leash easily, not jumping up when you want something and it’s fun to learn tricks even like sits, downs and rolling over. Learning even cute tricks also boost confidence and work brains. These smart herding breeds need to exercise their brains just as much as their bodies. Our staff says Marty will do well with children 10 and over due to his slight shyness and his higher energy level. They also said they think he will be Dog Friendly but as always it’s best to bring in your present companion for a meet and greet with your potential adoptee. If you are interested in adopting this handsome pup then bring in the entire family to our Eastside shelter, 8920 Lomas Blvd NE. Take Marty out to our play yard so you can appreciate his puppy nature.
