Batman (ID# 1675149) is 5 year old, male Australian Shepherd mix weighing 80 pounds. He’s super sweet, loving, easy going and will be a wonderful life long companion for some lucky person or family. He’s been left at our shelter a few times when his dad left for short term deployment. As you can imagine and expect this is heartbreaking for the dog as we are sure it was for his dad.
This time his dad was stationed in Japan for years. The first few days Batman was extremely sad and depressed. He wouldn’t eat or engage with people. With a little effort this sweet guy responded to extra attention, love and affection. Now he’s ready for a new home. He’s looking for a person that will be home more than away. That person should continue helping him understand that he will not be left behind ever again. Just be with him. If you have a conversation he will try his best to understand and participate. He’s great on leash and loves to talk walks. Yes, shedding a few pounds would be a good thing. He thinks shelter food is a bit boring and dry for his tastes so maybe add some broth or fancy food for a few days will help in his new home. His person said he’s an indoor dog, house & crate-trained, good in a car, great companion. He’s become a favorite and captured many hearts. Our staff says Batman will be good with will be good with children 8 and over. He was an only dog in his last home and likely will prefer to be the only dog getting all the attention from his people.
